Mizuno designs its neutral line of running shoes to allow the foot to work without impediments. Cushioning, transition, and comfort are all benefits the runner will have because of this neutral line design.
Now with Gender Engineering, the Wave® Rider™ 12 addresses the fundamental differences between the way men and women run. Through extensive research, Mizuno has learned that creating shoes that fit closer to these specific running styles, performance is maximized.
Since men are generally heavier than women, their running shoes must be able to absorb greater impact forces. Running shoe soles with an inadequate width can lead to a feeling of insecurity. Therefore, Mizuno has introduced a wider, slightly flared sole, increasing the landing area in the men's running shoes. The result is a more stable and secure run.
Upper: AIRMesh™ with synthetic overlays for support provides the utmost in breathability and comfort of the upper. Dynamotion Fit™ relieves the stress the foot naturally places on footwear and eliminates distortion in the collar and heel during the gait cycle that results in heel slippage and a poor fit.
Midsole: The Mizuno Wave™ is SmoothRide Engineered, utilizing Composite Parallel wave for superior shock absorption and dispersion with a great transition to boot. This SmoothRide™ Engineering approach is used to minimize the rapid acceleration and deceleration of the foot during transition, creating the smoothest ride possible. The AP Midsole is lightweight and responsive, yet a durable cushioning copolymer. VS-1 Shock-absorbing cushioning compound is also found in the heel. The Mizuno Intercool Full-length midsole ventilation system reduces heat and humidity build-up inside the shoe. A removable Ortholite® sockliner provides a responsive first feel.
Outsole: X-10™ featured in this shoe is the most durable carbon rubber that allows for longer wear in high impact areas and supplements traction at heel strike. SmoothRide Engineered, a solid rubber forefoot outsole design for durability and flexibility.
